Limitless with Chris Hemsworth captivated audiences worldwide as the international film star explored how to live longer. Now, Hemsworth is back with a bold new mission: to discover how we can all live better, starting today. In the new season, Limitless: Live Better Now, he takes on three intense challenges that offer real, practical ways to sharpen the mind and strengthen the body right away. All episodes will be available for streaming from 15 August on Disney+.
Stepping up, facing fears, and finding new strength
This inspiring three-part series, from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa, Jane Root’s Nutopia, and Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State, follows Hemsworth as he pushes himself physically and mentally to face life’s biggest challenges: pain, fear and cognitive decline.
Filmed over two years in six countries, Hemsworth tests himself by blending science with the wisdom of elders. With no drumming experience, he learns to perform live with GRAMMY winner Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 fans. He climbs a 600-foot wall in the Swiss Alps to step outside his comfort zone and embraces risk. He also undergoes South Korean Special Forces training, enduring electrocution and pepper spray to confront chronic pain and change his response to it. Along the way, he uncovers practical tools we can all use to live healthier, happier lives.
On this journey, expert Dr BJ Miller joins Hemsworth along with an inspiring group of voices: cognitive scientist Dr Maya Shankar, Parkway Drive drummer Ben Gordon, neuroscientist Professor Abigail Marsh, free solo climber Steph Davis, former South Korean military members, MMA fighter Kim Dong-hyun, motocross legend Robbie Maddison and more. Together, they offer fresh ways to build stronger minds, bodies and connections.
“Making this series has been a life-changing journey. I’ve discovered so much about my own health, resilience and what it really means to live well,” said Hemsworth. “I hope this next chapter inspires audiences to step outside their comfort zones and embrace challenges, because the impact it’s had on my life has been truly profound.”
Unlocking new strengths: How Chris Hemsworth takes on brain power, risk and pain
Each episode of Limitless: Live Better Now explores new science with practical real world takeaways.
Brain Power
Chris Hemsworth takes up drumming to boost his memory and focus. Invited to perform with Ed Sheeran before 70,000 fans, he has months to learn and overcome his nerves. The challenge pushes him to grow.
Risk
Chris climbs a 600 foot dam in the Swiss Alps. Inspired by his children, he learns how facing fears and deep focus can improve mind and body. Taking smart risks can lead to a healthier, happier life.
Pain
Chris takes on his chronic pain in a powerful experience in South Korea. With guidance from pain expert Dr BJ Miller, he explores both ancient healing methods and modern science. His biggest challenge is a tough Special Forces training called pain valley, designed to test his limits.
In August 2024, National Geographic shared a video showing the highlight of Chris’s brain training, performing Thinking Out Loud live on stage with Ed Sheeran in Bucharest, Romania during Sheeran’s tour. Now, viewers can watch the full story in the first episode, Brain Power, where Chris learns to play drums from scratch with help from Parkway Drive’s Ben Gordon. That unforgettable moment has racked up nearly 35 million views across Chris’s, Ed’s, and National Geographic’s social media pages. Season one of Limitless became a worldwide hit, ranking as National Geographic’s second most watched streaming series, with almost half its viewers coming from outside the US.
