That’s why Heineken is bringing back Bar de Change.
Following its successful launch earlier this year, Bar de Change returns from 4–8 June, giving travellers departing from OR Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos the opportunity to pre-purchase Heinekens at local prices before departure and redeem them at participating bars across the United States and Mexico.
Originally launched over the Easter travel period, the initiative was created to help travellers enjoy Heineken abroad without feeling the full impact of unfavourable exchange rates. Following strong demand from consumers, Heineken is now expanding the platform across additional airports and destinations ahead of a major international football season expected to draw fans from around the world.
The idea is simple: exchange rates shouldn’t decide how social your trip becomes.
Travellers often spend months saving for flights, accommodation and transport, only to arrive and discover that everyday experiences suddenly cost far more than expected. A quick drink with friends, a post-match celebration or a spontaneous night out can become surprisingly expensive once the currency conversion kicks in.
Bar de Change: Removing Currency Friction, Elevating Every Social Moment
Bar de Change removes that friction by allowing travellers to lock in local beer prices before departure, spending less time doing calculations and more time enjoying the moments they travelled for.
