Bioderma has introduced Photoderm XDefense Ultra-Fluid SPF50+, a next-generation sunscreen designed to protect skin from more than just UV rays. The product targets the full spectrum of environmental aggressors, including UVA, UVB, visible light, infrared rays and pollution, while also supporting the skin’s natural defence and detoxification mechanisms.

Bioderma launch
The launch comes as growing research highlights the combined impact of sun exposure and air pollution on skin health. Bioderma notes that pollution and solar radiation together can increase oxidative stress, accelerating skin ageing and contributing to cellular damage.
At the heart of the new formula is Bioderma’s Environmental Active Defense technology, which combines broad-spectrum sun protection with biological defence mechanisms that help protect skin cells from environmental stress. The product also features Detox Science, designed to support the skin’s natural detoxification process and help neutralise pollutants.

Developed according to Bioderma’s ecobiology approach, the formula is designed to work in harmony with the skin while minimising unnecessary ingredients. It is formulated without alcohol, silicones and microplastics, uses only three UV filters, and is suitable for sensitive skin. The sunscreen has also been tested for its impact on aquatic ecosystems.
What is Photoderm XDefense?
A key focus of the launch is user experience. Photoderm XDefense Ultra-Fluid SPF50+ delivers a lightweight, ultra-fluid texture that leaves an invisible finish without feeling greasy or sticky, making it suitable for daily use and reapplication throughout the day.

The product is available in an invisible formula as well as four tinted shades designed to suit different skin tones and phototypes, offering both protection and a natural-looking finish.
Bioderma emphasises that sun protection should be worn year-round, as UV, visible light and infrared rays remain present even on cloudy days and indoors near windows. With Photoderm XDefense Ultra-Fluid SPF50+, the brand aims to offer comprehensive daily protection while helping skin remain resilient in increasingly challenging environmental conditions.
