Mahindra Fusion Fest returned in 2026 bigger, bolder and more immersive than ever, bringing together thousands of fans, artists and creators for one of South Africa’s most exciting cultural celebrations. What began as an ambitious cultural experiment just a year ago has quickly grown into a national platform that celebrates creativity while bringing communities together.

The 2026 edition reached its grand finale at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday, 7 March. However, the journey to that moment had begun months earlier. In the lead-up to the main event, Mahindra hosted a series of vibrant campus and cultural activations in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg. These roadshows helped bring the Fusion Fest spirit directly to communities across the country, creating excitement long before the final showcase.
Taking the Festival to Communities
Importantly, the activations went beyond simple promotion. They aimed to open doors for young creatives. Through dealership-led initiatives and campus engagements, Fusion Fest invited aspiring musicians, visual artists and fashion designers to participate in a nationwide talent search. In doing so, Fusion Fest positioned itself as more than just a festival. It became a platform where emerging talent could shine and be celebrated.
The response was remarkable. Hundreds of entries were submitted by creatives from across South Africa, highlighting the depth of talent that exists within the country’s artistic community. Ultimately, this momentum led to an unforgettable evening where thousands of fans gathered at the SunBet Arena to witness the final showcase.

“The youthful vibrancy of the Rainbow Nation is something we experience every day across South Africa — in its music, fashion, art and the remarkable creativity of its people. Fusion Fest was created to celebrate exactly that spirit. Inspired by the shared philosophies of Ubuntu and Vasudeva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), the festival brings together diverse voices and artistic expressions on one platform, reflecting Mahindra’s belief that communities grow stronger when they come together. This year, we also wanted to go beyond celebration and create opportunity.”

“Through a nationwide talent search, supported by our dealer network, we invited emerging musicians, artists, and fashion designers to showcase their talent, with winners receiving prize money and the opportunity to perform on a national stage. The incredible response we received from young creators across the country reinforces why platforms like Fusion Fest matter. As Mahindra continues its journey in South Africa, initiatives such as this reflect our Rise philosophy in action — celebrating creativity, supporting communities, and creating opportunities for the next generation to shine,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
A Cultural Platform, Not Just a Festival
Fusion Fest forms part of the Mahindra Group’s wider global cultural outreach programme, through which the company actively supports art and culture around the world. However, these initiatives go far beyond traditional sponsorships.
Instead, each programme is developed with a clear purpose: to strengthen the connection between Mahindra and the communities it serves, while also nurturing the creative ecosystems that shape those communities. As a result, Fusion Fest stands apart from many brand-led events. It is not simply about visibility or entertainment; rather, it is about building a meaningful platform where creativity can flourish.
A Fusion of Legends and Rising Stars
The 2026 showcase featured four distinctive musical fusions, each brought to life through immersive fashion design and contemporary visual art.
The evening began with Rewind the Revolution, a nostalgic musical journey led by Zoë Modiga. Legendary performers Mafikizolo, Kurt Darren, and Claire Johnston joined the stage, while fashion by Imprint and pop art by Shaun ‘Damn Vandal’ Oakley added visual depth to the performance.

Next came Hip Hop Most High, one of the most anticipated moments of the night. This powerful segment blended hip hop with spiritual praise, featuring performances by Blxckie, Maglera Doe Boy, and the Tshwane Gospel Choir. The music was complemented by bold fashion from The Bam Collective and visual storytelling through illustrations by Ndumiso Nyoni.

Femme for All followed the celebration of female creativity, featuring a segment dedicated to empowerment and artistic expression. Artists Naledi Aphiwe, Karen Zoid, Nomfundo Moh, and Mariechan delivered standout performances against the backdrop of immersive media art by Inka Kendzia.

Finally, the evening concluded with All About Now, a vibrant amapiano showcase that captured the energy of South Africa’s contemporary music scene. Youth icons Zee Nxumalo, Focalistic, and Daliwonga brought the arena to life, while fashion by Munkus and street art by Bushy Wopp completed the experience.

Creating Opportunities for Emerging Talent
Beyond the performances, one of the most significant aspects of Fusion Fest was its commitment to supporting emerging creatives.
For the 2026 edition, Mahindra launched a nationwide talent search aimed at discovering some of South Africa’s most exciting new artists, musicians, and fashion designers. This initiative gave previously undiscovered talent the chance to step onto a national stage.
During the event, the judges announced Thando Micky as the winner of the music competition. They also recognised two runners-up, each receiving R10 000 to support their creative journeys. In addition, Andile Cele showcased their work as the winning novice fashion designer, while the judges named Anda Mncayi the winning creative artist.
By providing exposure, financial support and a national platform, Fusion Fest demonstrates how brands can play an active role in nurturing the creative industries.

Driving the Future of Cultural Engagement
The festival also highlighted Mahindra’s evolving automotive identity through the Mahindra XUV 3XO, a vehicle that continues to resonate with a younger generation of South Africans.
Adding to the excitement of the evening, Ntombhi Mkalipi from Pretoria drove away in a brand new Mahindra XUV 3XO after participating in a nationwide Mahindra test drive campaign.

As Mahindra moves into its third decade in South Africa, the company has built a strong local presence with more than 100 000 customers and a significant assembly plant in Durban. Initiatives such as Fusion Fest demonstrate the company’s commitment to engaging with communities in meaningful ways.
Ultimately, Fusion Fest stands as both a celebration of South African creativity and a powerful reminder that when cultures, ideas, and people come together, something remarkable can happen.
Together We Rise.
