The Ford Tourneo Custom launched its latest generation last year raising the bar for technology comfort and versatility. Now Ford South Africa is adding two exciting new models the sporty Tourneo Custom Sport and the top of the line Tourneo Custom Titanium X both designed to bring style and luxury to this popular people mover.
Space and style redefined
While the new models keep the Tourneo Custom’s well-known spaciousness and flexible interior, they take things up a notch by adding stylish designs and a touch of prestige. Both come in short wheelbase versions with a practical eight-seater layout, while the Active and Trend models use a longer wheelbase to offer more luggage space.
“The Tourneo Custom has a long heritage around the world of providing outstanding practicality, spaciousness and comfort, making it ideally suited to personal use as a family vehicle, and for business use. With the introduction of the new high-series models we are building on the rational benefits of the Tourneo Custom platform while adding desirability, style and premium luxury to the portfolio,” says Sunil Sewmohan Executive Director of Product Marketing, at Ford South Africa.
Driving power with executive style
“High-series Tourneo Custom buyers are image-conscious professionals who require a vehicle that is both a practical tool and a reflection of their success. It’s also the ideal solution for executive shuttles and VIP transportation,” Sewmohan says. “The Tourneo Custom Sport is a more dynamic performance-oriented model with a dash of athletic design flair, while the Titanium X is our premium halo product that blends sophistication and luxury.”
The current generation Tourneo Custom uses a stronger structure, independent rear suspension and an engine that is powerful yet efficient. This gives passengers a smooth and comfortable ride with good fuel economy. Both new models use Ford’s single turbo four cylinder diesel engine. It delivers 125kW of power and 390Nm of torque which is more than the 100kW and 360Nm in the Active and Trend models.
Power goes to the front wheels through an eight speed automatic gearbox. Drivers can choose from five drive modes Normal Eco Slippery Tow Haul and Sport to get the best balance of performance and fuel use. Adaptive Cruise Control and other driver assistance features add extra safety and convenience on every trip.

Tourneo custom sport
The Tourneo Custom Sport is the most dynamic option in the range and takes its design cues from the Transit Custom Sport van. It stands out with a bold honeycomb style grille, full body colour front bumper, Sport body kit, assertive rear spoiler and striking dual black and blue sport stripes along the whole vehicle. Side decals add to the athletic look and standard LED tail lamps complete the effect. Customers can choose 17 inch sport alloy wheels or upgrade to 19 inch versions.
Inside, the Sport’s cabin shows off its lively character with blue accent stripes on the seats and partial leather trim. Premium piano black surrounds frame the multi-function display and centre console. The large 13-inch landscape touchscreen comes standard with Ford’s SYNC 4 system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and ten speakers for a richer sound experience.
Work-friendly features and smart driver assistance
Customers can add the optional Mobile Office pack which includes a foldaway tray table, better cabin lighting, space for a laptop or tablet, extra USB ports, an AMPS docking slot and a handy built-in bin.
