Illusion Museum brings a touch of magic to Cape Town
Illusion Museum is preparing to bring its exciting new experience to the heart of the Mother City. Opening on Kloof Street on Saturday, 31 May 2025, this fascinating attraction is expected to become one of Cape Town’s most popular cultural destinations.
The museum will be the second in South Africa, the third in Africa, and the 61st in the world. Cape Town’s new Museum of Illusions joins other locations in cities like Barcelona, Paris, Shanghai, New York and Dubai, offering fun and exciting sensory experiences around the world.
Since July, Joburg’s Museum of Illusions has broken records, and now Cape Town is next.

Illusion Museum, behind the magic and its origins and growth
The Museum of Illusions started in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015 and quickly became popular globally. So far, more than 12 million people have visited.
Each location is different, offering fun, hands-on exhibits that mix science and magic to amaze visitors of all ages.
“Cape Town’s creativity and curiosity make it the perfect home for our next sensory playground” says Mark Collie, owner of the Museum of Illusions South Africa. “After the overwhelming response in Johannesburg, we’re incredibly excited to bring the experience to the Mother City. This isn’t just a museum, it’s a space where science, art, and wonder collide to challenge how we see the world and ourselves.”
