Amazon South Africa has officially introduced its Made for Summer storefront, offering customers exciting deals of up to 30% off on seasonal essentials. The curated collection features a wide range of products across cooking, outdoor living and sports categories, perfectly timed for South Africans preparing for the warmer months.
To mark the launch, Amazon hosted an exclusive Amazon Summer Session event, celebrating South African summer cuisine and lifestyle. The event highlighted how customers can easily access quality ingredients and appliances available on the Amazon website, making it simple to prepare for the season.

The launch event featured a live cooking demonstration hosted by the renowned celebrity chef couple Coco and J Something. The pair showcased dishes designed to transition effortlessly from the kitchen to the braai, celebrating South Africa’s vibrant food culture. Their menu made use of popular local and international brands such as Weber, Kenwood, Bosch, Defy, Taurus and Mellerware.

Over 25 of South Africa’s leading food influencers, bloggers and lifestyle personalities attended the event. Guests were treated to a hands-on culinary experience and an intimate look at Amazon’s summer offerings. The event took place at the beautifully designed Glen Villa, nestled at the foot of Table Mountain, providing a breathtaking setting that captured the essence of a South African summer.

In addition to seasonal promotions, Amazon South Africa continues to enhance its customer experience with convenient delivery options. Shoppers can browse through thousands of products eligible for free standard delivery on items shipped by Amazon, with no minimum order value required.
To make the festive shopping period even smoother, customers in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban can enjoy same day delivery for just R2. Orders placed by 2pm are delivered by 8pm, seven days a week, ensuring that summer essentials arrive right on time.

Dish 1: Grilled octopus salad

Prep ahead:
- Clean and gut both the octopus.
- Simmer one octopus with vinegar, garlic, and onion (60–90 min) until tender.
- Cool and set aside for grilling.
- Prepare and measure/weigh salad ingredients
- Grill octopus 2–3 min per side on a hot grill.
- Prep salad vegetables: dice celery, slice onions, halve cherry tomatoes, chop olives and parsley).
- Toss warm octopus with dressing and vegetables.
- Serve with sliced baguette (can toast lightly on the braai).

Dish 2: Grilled sardine bruschetta with pepper salad

Prep ahead:
- Clean, fillet, and butterfly sardines.
- Slice ciabatta bread.
- Prepare garlic and coriander for topping.
- Grill peppers with an extra 4 pepper (for safety)
- Grill sardines for ±5 minutes on each side.
- Grill peppers, steam under bowl, peel skins, deseed, dice, and marinate in dressing (oil, balsamic, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper).
- Toast ciabatta on grill, rub with garlic, drizzle with olive oil.
- Assemble bruschetta: ciabatta → peppers → sardines → coriander.
- Dish 3: Cape Malay Chicken & Pork Sosaties with Quick Pickles
- Cut chicken breasts and pork rashers into cubes. Place in separate bowls
- Thread sosaties on skewers (alternate chicken/pork).
- Prepare a quick pickle (vinegar, water, sugar → simmer → pour over sliced red onion, jalapeño, red cabbage).
- Grill sosaties 5–10 min per side until cooked.
- Make sosatie sauce (onions, garlic, ginger, spices, jam, water, butter).
- Dip into warm sosatie sauce.
- Serve in brioche rolls with pickles.
