Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit will host the Michelin 24H Kyalami from 8 to 10 January 2027, marking the first time the Michelin 24H Series will race on African soil. The event will also be the first international 24-hour endurance race hosted in South Africa.
The announcement is a significant moment for local motorsport and further strengthens Kyalami’s reputation as one of the continent’s premier racing destinations.
The race replaces the traditional Michelin 24H Dubai on the championship calendar, with organisers citing ongoing uncertainty in the Gulf region and logistical challenges as reasons for the move. For South African fans, however, the shift creates a rare opportunity to experience one of endurance racing’s biggest formats without leaving the country.
A new chapter for a legendary circuit
Kyalami is no stranger to endurance racing. The circuit has a rich history that includes the iconic Kyalami 9 Hour, a race that helped cement its place in global motorsport folklore. Over the years, the venue has welcomed some of the world’s biggest manufacturers, teams and drivers.
Now, the arrival of the Michelin 24H Series adds another chapter to that story. According to Kyalami CEO Toby Venter, the event continues the circuit’s tradition of hosting major international racing events while introducing a completely new endurance challenge to South African motorsport.
More eyes on South Africa with Michelin 24H
Beyond the racing itself, the event is expected to shine a spotlight on South Africa as a tourism and sporting destination. Drivers, teams and fans from around the world will descend on Gauteng for a weekend that combines world-class motorsport with everything the region has to offer, from wildlife experiences and cultural attractions to the vibrant energy of Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The Michelin 24H Kyalami is also another sign that the circuit remains firmly on the international motorsport radar.
