Barbie is celebrating Ken’s 65th anniversary by adding rock star Lenny Kravitz to its Kenbassadors Collection, complete with his signature style and plenty of rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Ken is turning 65, and Barbie is clearly not letting him celebrate quietly.
The Barbie brand has announced Lenny Kravitz as the latest honouree in its Barbie Signature Kenbassadors Collection, following the launch of the collection with basketball star LeBron James in 2025.
The collection celebrates men who have made their mark on culture, and Kravitz is certainly no stranger to doing things his own way. With more than 50 million records sold worldwide, the Grammy-winning musician has built a career that stretches across music, acting, design and fashion.
The new collectible doll takes inspiration from Kravitz’s “Blue Electric Light Tour” and his unmistakable stage style.
And yes, Barbie has paid attention to the details.
It’s giving Lenny
The Barbie Signature Kenbassadors Lenny Kravitz Collectible Doll comes dressed in a bronze-coloured mesh cowl-neck tank, boot-leg denim jeans, a studded belt, boots and sunglasses.
Kravitz says he never imagined something like this when he was growing up.
“Barbie is an institution and as a kid growing up, I could not have imagined this,” he says. “To be chosen by Mattel as a Kenbassador, only the second one in history, is an honour and absolutely surreal.”
Ken is having a moment
Ken first entered the Barbie universe in 1961, and while he has spent decades playing the supporting role to one of the world’s most famous dolls, the character has been getting a little more attention lately.
Throughout 2026, Ken has been popping up in some unexpected places, including an appearance on Hot Ones with Sean Evans, a collaboration with DJ and producer Steve Aoki on the Ken x Dim Mak collection and an appearance in Expedia’s Super Bowl LX campaign. Now he has a rock star joining the Kenbassador club.
