kykNET’s Welvaartskeppers returns this October with a new season exploring the stories, setbacks and successes behind some of South Africa’s most recognisable entrepreneurs and business leaders. Everyone wants financial freedom, but few people get to hear the real stories behind how wealth is actually built.
That’s where Welvaartskeppers comes in.
kykNet
Returning to kykNET this October, the 13-part series takes viewers inside the lives of South Africans who have transformed ideas, opportunities and hard work into successful businesses and lasting wealth. Hosted by financial adviser brothers PJ and Geo Botha, the series moves beyond financial jargon and focuses on the people behind the numbers. Instead of offering quick-fix solutions, Welvaartskeppers explores the lessons, risks, mistakes and turning points that shaped each guest’s journey.

This Seasons Guests
Among this season’s featured guests is Rassie van der Dussen, who discusses his transition from professional cricket into entrepreneurship through Abantu Coffee. The series also features entrepreneur and speaker Vusi Thembekwayo, who reflects on his journey from humble beginnings and his vision for creating a legacy that extends beyond personal success.
Viewers will also hear from Jannie Moolman of the Moolman Group, whose story highlights the realities of generational wealth and the responsibility that comes with building on a family legacy.
The season shines a spotlight on several entrepreneurs behind successful South African brands, including Andriette Georgiou, founder of the viral sensation Mondvol Cookies, Pierre and Andriana Cronjé of Burnt Studios, Daneel and Stef Steinmann of Old School, and Stephan Bredell of Plato Coffee.

Media personality Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp also joins the lineup, offering insight into how personal talent, credibility and reputation can become valuable assets in today’s business landscape.
Welvaartskeppers
What makes Welvaartskeppers stand out is its focus on real-world experiences. No two guests followed the same path, and the series makes it clear that there is no single blueprint for success. Some built businesses from the ground up, others expanded existing ventures, while some turned passion projects into thriving brands.
The television series expands on themes explored in Riaan Botha’s Welvaartskeppers: Strategieë wat jou lewe kan verander and PJ and Geo Botha’s Word Ryk, Bly Ryk: Hoe om welvaart te skep en bestuur. Together, the books and series share a simple message: wealth creation looks different for everyone, but there is always something to learn from those who have successfully navigated the journey.
For viewers looking for inspiration, practical insights or simply a fascinating look at South African entrepreneurship, Welvaartskeppers offers a front-row seat to the stories behind the success.
Welvaartskeppers airs on kykNET (DStv Channel 144) every Thursday at 17:00 from 8 October 2026.
